I have Windows 7 64-bit installed on an HP Pavillion Elite (HP-M9600T) computer, and I'm having problems getting my microphone to work with Windows 7 and Starcraft 2 (SC2). The strange part is that I have an old analog microphone that works, but it's quality is very poor. I have purchased 3 or 4 new microphones (some analog others USB) and none of them have worked. I've tried stand-alone and headset mics.
Each time I have tried a new microphone, I have gone into the 'Sound' panel and verified that the mic is not muted. I verify that the mic level is high (and if mic boost is available I ensure it is also up high). Then I test the mic via the 'Listen to this device' feature in the Microphone properties panel and can hear my voice via my speakers when I speak. I can also see the green bar on the Sound panel fluctuate each time I speak. However, no one can hear me when I play StarCraft 2 unless I unplug the new mic and plug in the old mic. StartCraft 2 settings are set to use the default device and StarCraft 2 also has a test 'Listen to this device' feature and I can hear my voice through the speakers. Just like in the Sound panel, when I speak I can see the StarCraft 2 sound bar fluctuate in recognition of my voice. Still, only the old mic works. If my old mic had a mute button and better quality, I would ignore the problem. However, it doesn't so I would like to get a new mic working.
All the drivers seem to be up to date and indicate they are working properly. I have uninstalled and re-installed StarCraft 2. Diablo 3 portal to heaven. I have also reinstalled Windows 7. I have used both the generic drivers and installed the RealTek drivers that came with my machine. Both sets of drivers give me the same result. I thought they might be conflicting so I uninstalled the RealTek drivers, but I got the same result. Teh generic drivers recognize my mic fine, but no one can hear me. Any ideas?

Come on people, stop bitching and being salty and accept that this is good music, and is at least equal to the original

Nope Start this from Scracth (oh wait you cant)
Comment by blasterbeam
@nathan-allen-pinard: I agree. Sounds way too flat, bass is underwhelmingly undefined and wobbly. Prefer the original
Comment by blasterbeam
Uggh, this violin belongs in SC2.

@nathan-allen-pinard: calm down you dumbass. after the negative feedback they received months ago, they didn't even include this track in the game. all the music in remastered is the same music from the original starcraft
Comment by Michael Simkins
@daniel-poliak: Fuck you, I love this track and the old one respectively!
Comment by Michael Simkins
I love what Blizzard did to the music tracks for their StarCraft Remastered release!

Also those 90s synth drums were ICONIC, and now they are gone.
Comment by Nathan Allen Pinard
This would've been better if they started from scratch, with an option to use the old one.

Violin works with the theme of Terran, but the mix is hot garbage.
Comment by Chris.Gordon26Starcraft 2 Sound Not Working Windows 7
Ya, its sounds drastically different imo. Not just higher fidelity, it sounds on par tonally, but comparing it to the wav from the mpq which I've listened to many times..there are parts that are off in terms of volume and emphasis.

@trentvii7: apart from nostalgia, this track is FAR, FAR away from what could be called a well done (re)MIX and (re)MASTER. just garbage going on in both musical and technical sides of this.
Comment by Clement Moraschi
Nope, not a fan. Just because those extra Khz are there doesn't mean they need filling all the time, there is too much going on, the dual-string plucking does not sound better, and while the instruments themselves sound nice, many of the acoustic elements just don't fit the composition. Will be listening to the original instead, sorry.
Comment by Drúii
@trentvii7: sure it may fit more into SC2-ish etc, but hey - the rework is only about sharper textures, more languages and slightly better sounds. There are no aestethical changes whatsoever to justify putting.. THIS.. into the game. It's still the good old StarCraft with good old gameplay and I hope they will let us choose the good old soundtrack. There is a reason for old sountrack still being SO popular - they are just not overfilled with instruments in some stupid hollywood-fashioned madness of 'oh let's have an epic orchestra'. Not always more means better and especially in StarCraft, where SFXes matter a lot in the gameplay, I am completely sure this garbage will only distract players. Original soundtrack had a great selectivity. And - there are still people (including me) playing SC2 with SC1 soundtrack. Im not sure that would work another way.
Comment by Daniel Poliak
@thoughtmusic: I would welcome this option :)
Comment by Thought Music
@daniel-poliak: It would be nice if they left the option for original music vs remastered. Even SC2 has the option to use only the original soundtrack under the sound options.
Comment by Trent
@trentvii7: And I think a lot of the distaste for this track comes from over analyzing the old track and comparing it with the new one too hard. Its been quite some time since I've actually sat through and listened to the old track. But this one sounds like a really well done (HD sound) remix and remaster!
Comment by Trent
Guys, remember the original idea behind the Terran was that space and in the context of the Lore of Starcraft, we are still very much in a new Wild West frontier of sorts. This track defines that emotion perfectly!
Comment by Trent
@druii: I work on music as a hobbyist (if you want you can check out my soundcloud) . and I'd have to agree with you, I think they overworked this track and added just a bit too much. I do, however, it will fit wonderfully into the rest of the production of the remastered edition to the game. If this were thrown into the old game, sure - it wouldn't have fit. But with the idea of a remastered game with this track as the backdrop (everything sparkling with a new polished 4K look and 60+ FPS) this track will be an amazing backdrop to the newfound chaos that we will have on our screens!

real start
I recently changed my motherboard, processor, GPU, and case about 2 weeks ago maybe not even that long. Switched over the HDD and everything was fine, all my games still worked and there were no problems of any sort. The day I switched everything I ran Starcraft II no problems at all but now it won't start. Every time I try to open it, a box pops up then just automatically closes.
I tried a restore to the day I switched everything and that didn't work, tried to uninstall/reinstall and when I tried to run the disc, the mouse would get the little loading circle then it just went away and nothing happened. I tried to do a digital download and it did the same thing. Tried another restore, same thing. I copied the files into a folder and tried to run them from there and it still did nothing. I tried running the repair tool in the support folder and it says to run it from the Starcraft II directory. I'm completely at a loss here, if anyone can help me that would be great.
The StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty launch has been one of the smoothest to ever grace the complicated PC platform. However, even 10 years of hard work cannot squish every bug and fix every error. To help players avoid some of these problems, Blizzard has issued a list of known bugs and potential fixes for some of them on the official U.S. and European forums.
Those who have experienced a language pack error should try to ensure that their system clock is correctly set, according to Blizzard's customer service. This is only a potential fix, though, so a patch should be expected to arrive soon. Realtek HD Audio sound card owners should be aware also that setting their Output Device in the Sounds Menu to Speakers will make them unable to receive voice in the multiplayer component.
StarCraft II seems to have a problem with 7.1 sound, so players should set their speaker options to 5.1 or lower to avoid the audio not playing properly. Another sound issue is connected to changing the OS speaker mode while running the game in Windows Vista or Windows 7. This will halt all audio playback as a result.
Digital downloads and installs are not available for hard drives using the FAT 32 file format, meaning that players should switch to the modern NTFS format before attempting an Internet installation of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. Apple users should be warned that Mac OS X 10.6 has an issue with Nvidia drivers and that using an USB headset will have a negative effect on the game's performance.
It is also written that, “There is a chance where multiple graphic issues may occur for units, structures, terrain, and transmissions. This tends to be one set of objects (like a supply depot) or level of terrain where textures are swapped or look a bit psychedelic. It doesn't affect the whole game screen or cause any other visual oddities.”
The Galaxy editor also has some issues regarding the terrain editor and the detail view. More precisely, there is a lag in the terrain editor when the mouse is dragged across the map and changing certain values while in the Galaxy Editor will result in a crash if done in detail view. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is out now for Mac and PC.
